Evidence

What does the research say?

Both Selank and Semax have been studied extensively — particularly in Russian clinical and research settings where they are registered pharmaceutical agents.

• Selank vs benzodiazepines — human trial — A randomized controlled trial compared Selank directly against Medazepam in 62 patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Both reduced anxiety comparably — however Selank uniquely reduced anxiety while simultaneously improving energy, focus, and cognitive performance, opposite to the sedation caused by the benzodiazepine. Selank also normalized blood levels of enkephalins which were pathologically low in anxious patients.
• Semax in stroke recovery — human trial — In a study of 110 stroke patients, Semax treatment produced significantly improved functional recovery scores compared to controls. Patients showed sustained elevations in plasma BDNF that correlated directly with the speed and extent of their recovery.
